asmr

Autonomous sensory meridian response (ASMR) is an experience described by a tingling sensation on the skin that typically begins on the scalp and moves down the back of the neck and upper spine.

ASMR videos are getting massively popular these days with millions of hits and viewership. Research shows that ASMR videos are getting popular as more and more people are in Self Care especially distracting oneself. Many people are adopting the following behaviors. 1. Abstinence, 2. Diversion and 3. Hibernation. More and more people unconsciously either abstaining that is to care for themselves; people are imposing self refraining bans and fasts to control their impulsive behavior better. Another way is a diversion, If you can't fight it, distract it, Nostalgia for simpler times is a standard anchor among most conversations along with the desire to immerse oneself in impersonal stress to escape one's realities. Lastly hibernation, people are re-prioritizing their daily tasks and activities to only engage in high efforts and high rewards acts over mundane high energy and low reward chores and errands.

Now, what are these got to do with Learning Interventions?

These are some of the megatrends currently if we want to gain attention and make the learning more effective and efficient, we have to innovate and stay along with the trend. There are so much of noise and distractions in the environment. People are finding alternatives to keep them at peace and harmony. Learning by itself is stressful as it shifts one's comfort zone; hence it becomes increasingly challenging for retention and application. One of the main reasons, the learning change is much harder to implement. Using ASMR techniques at the right time and interval helps participants relax and focus on the learning activity. This way the participants fully engages, be it post lunch or any time of the day.

In Leaderonomics we use ASMR techniques at the right time during the learning interventions to ease the learning environment and helps participants focus on the activity and learning. As the day progresses the energy, attention level drops, and retention becomes challenging. We have to balance the entire day with optimal breaks, varieties, energizers, fun, and laughter along with some ASMR music / Audio / Video presentations to keep the participants fully engaged. This way the participants are engaged throughout the day and the learning happens throughout and not just first half or pre-lunch. The tired brain will not yield any innovation, creativity, problem-solving. Hence keeping the brain engaged yet not tiring out is an art which not many are able to execute. We at leaderonomics ensure that we keep them engaged at the same time not tire them out (unless it is a part of the learning objective/activity or any specific reason).
