Principle-Based Thinking is an approach to extract key insights & organize acumen for effective application

One thing that is good for all of us to practice is when we listen to people's presentations or comments or even when we read articles we should try and glean the principles from them that are key to the message being presented

Some common principles-based thinking are

  • Those who understand interest will earn it; those who don’t will pay it

  • In human performance, it is always substance over form

  • To be relevant in any business or industry, a firm must solve a fundamental problem for a customer in the value chain

  • It’s easier to change people’s world view than to change people’s behavior

  • The more commoditized a good, service, or market is, the greater the ability for buyer to influence purchase price

  • A disruptive technology is one that is cheaper and worse, in a place where current players aren’t focused
